Compared with traditional glass, laminated glass can mainly achieve three functions: sound insulation and ultraviolet isolation, lightweight and collision safety.
1. Sound insulation function
It is mainly realized through the PVB laminated film material between two layers of glass. PVB, a “plastic”, is very similar to the plastic sealing film we use every day. The raw material is white and translucent, and it can become completely transparent after being treated with high temperature and high pressure. PVB film can block external sound waves to a certain extent and reduce the impact of external noise on the room. Compared with traditional tempered glass, this film in laminated glass can reduce external noise by 3-5 decibels.
2. UV protection function
Laminated glass can block more than 99% of ultraviolet rays. Although it can block ultraviolet rays, its light transmittance is still similar to that of traditional glass, which makes privacy unprotected. If you mind, you can apply a dark film.
3. Security
When the glass collides, it may shatter and cause injuries. As for laminated glass, because the film in the middle is tough, and the two layers of glass are tightly attached to itself during manufacturing, glass slag is less likely to fly during impact, and the fragments will still be attached to the film. This feature is also helpful in preventing theft. If a thief tries to break the window, the effort and time he spends will be several times that of breaking traditional tempered glass.
